Experience the true feeling...

Playing Hickory golf is a wonderful way to experience the history of the game. Most customers are truly amazed how well the old clubs perform. But not any old club will work. Over the years these old clubs have been discarded for more than one reason. Clubs with bent ,dry and split shafts are no good. Rusted, loose and too light clubheads are either no fun. Dry, loose and broken grips don't give any pleasure at all!

The excellence of hickory

The most significant difference comparing modern golf clubs to the old ones is the shafts, from 1820's and for the following odd 100 years most of them were made of hickory. The combination of strength, toughness, hardness, and stiffness found in hickory wood is not found in any other commercial wood.

The clubs we use for play are mainly from the 1920's where the big star, the american amateur Robert Tyre (Bobby) Jones J:r won 13 major championships crowned by a finishing Grand Slam in 1930 after which he decided to end his playing career.

Professionally restored hickory golf clubs

Since 2004 we have acquired hundreds of antique wood shafted golf clubs and carefully restored them for play. Although the quality of these one century! old clubs is truly remarkable - a knowledgeable restoration job is bound to be a necessity. Golflinks take great pride in practising the same methods as the old school scottish clubmakers once did as long as it is still possible.
